Autumn Flowers for Everyone

Happy Monday everyone! Here are some autumn flowers to brighten the start of your week:

Top row: pink cosmos, heavenly bamboo, verbena

Middle row: lavender, geranium, white cosmos

Bottom row: unidentified plant with berries, pink cosmos, love in a mist

Although it's nearly November, our garden is still full of flowers. I grew the cosmos from seed - I started them on the windowsill in the living room in little plant pots, and then moved them outside and planted them in the ground.

I also grew the love in a mist from seed, but all I did here was scatter the seeds directly on the ground, cover them with compost, and then sit back and wait for them to grow.

I planted the lavender, heavenly bamboo, and verbena as individual plants - our dogs adore the lavender, and as fast as I put new plants in the ground, the dogs roll on them and destroy them, but one plant has escaped their loving attention, and is still flowering and smelling delicious.

I also planted the geranium as a tiny plant, and it has subsequently grown to majestic proportions all by itself. The plant with the berries came with the house and is covered in lots of red autumnal berries at the moment. I'm ashamed to say that I have no clue what it is called, so if anyone recognises it, please let me know!

I think the plant with red berries is one of the cotoneasters - but I would really need to see a leaf.

Oh yes, of course it's a cotoneaster - I really should have known that myself, considering I have such a great green-finger-and-thumbed teacher :-)
