Before And After - Our Home Office

So finally I have gotten around to posting pictures of the new deep blue wall in our home office. Yes, I know, it's about bloomin' time.

Here's how things looked originally:

With the pale blue-grey walls, and the pale-blue grey desk, it was all just merging into one. And Perpetual Paris looked pretty good, but I wanted more drama.

So we (the royal we - I hate painting, but Andre is fortunately both generally obliging and highly adept with a paint roller) painted the wall behind the desk dark blue instead:

Oh yes. Liking it. Look how Perpetual Paris glows against the deep blue:

Everytime I walk into our spare room (which we use as a home office) I'm startled by the effect of the wall, which is rather pleasing, because I find that I very quickly get accustomed to how our casa looks. So it's nice to see things with fresh eyes for a change.

Have you made any changes to your own casa recently?

I Have Been Denied

I want an Ikea Maskros light for our home office:

 Isn't it glorious?

Image from the rather wonderful Little Brown Pen

Sadly it is 80cm in diameter. Which in our low-ceilinged casa would mean that even our two stumpy legged Jack Russells would probably wallop their heads on it. Denied!

Anyone know of anything similar (and smaller)?

White Office Chair Round-Up

I've spent some time recently searching for a new home office chair. I'm looking for something white, with wheels, and adjustable height. Here's what I have come up with:

Sources (left to right, and top to bottom):

Heals, Tesco, John Lewis

Design Classics, Dwell, Ikea

Dwell, The Conran Shop, Ikea

So, naturally I love the Eames chair. The version from Design Classics costs around £400, and the Tesco version costs £100. Go Tesco! But I'm kind of feeling that the Eames chair, while gorgeous, is a little ubiquitous? So maybe I should consider one of the other options... What do you think? Which chair do you prefer?

Psst! If you like this, you may also like...
